YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. Growth of exports of tomatoes from Armenia to Russia is ensured by local products, Nvard Arakelyan, press secretary of Armenia’s Food Safety Agency, told ARKA News Agency.
“Just a miniscule amount of tomatoes are brought to Armenia from Turkey, and as for the increase in the country’s tomato export, it can be said that our greenhouses are working actively and that this growth was ensured by domestic products, i.e. there are absolutely no risks,” she said.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor, Russian agricultural watchdog, expressed concern over considerable increase in supplies of plant products, particularly tomatoes, from Armenia, Egypt and Azerbaijan to Russia.
According to Argus-Fito information system, Russia’s imports of fresh tomatoes from Armenia grew to 1,000 tons in January and February 2016, while at the same period a year before the mentioned products were not brought to Russia from Armenia at all. --0--
