YEREVAN, May 18. /ARKA/. International Finance Corporation (IFC) announces the launch of an advisory project aimed at promoting Armenian food companies.

The project implies improvement of operation regime and introduction of international safety standards. 

Thomas Lubeck, IFC Regional Head for the Caucasus, told journalists on Friday that Armenia has sufficient room for developing its agriculture. He said that implementation of this project would help food industry enlarge its exports. 

Lubeck said that the project’s duration if three years. The list of participant companies is not composed yet. 

He stressed the importance of the project in terms of development of agricultural industry and employment. The IFC project is based on the world and regional experiences. 

As part of the project, seminars will be held and consulting services provided in selection of companies to be supported in introduction of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. The project is being implemented with Austrian finance ministry’s financial support. 
Investments totaling $202 million have been made in Armenia under 35 programs since the country joined the International Finance Corporation in 1995. 

The IFC consulting services are provided through programs focused on simplification of the financial sector and the regulation of stable energy area and investment environment. -0-
