In August 2023 food products in Armenia fell in price by 4% yoy - NSC
YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. In August 2023 prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages in August were down 4% compared to August 2022, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
It said the price of rice in annualized terms fell by 5.7%, that of flour - by 18.3%, the price of pasta dropped by 12.2%, that of buckwheat - by 28.4%, lentils dropped in price by 22.6%, peas - by 16.3%, the price of wheat groats fell by 5.9%, that of bulgur - by 5.4% and that of spelt by 5.1%.
In August, pork in annualized terms decreased in price by 13.6%, the poultry meat dropped by 0.8%, beef rose in price by 2.9% and mutton fell in price by 2.6%. Fish and seafood prices were down 4% in August 2023 vs. August 2022.
Concentrated milk fell 3.1% in August on a year-over-year basis, while cheese rose 0.1%. Eggs rose 13.5% on a year-over-year basis. Margarine fell in price by 16.3%, butter by 3.9%, and vegetable sunflower oil by 36.8%.
Fruits fell in price by 3.3% in August on a year-over-year. Vegetables were down 3.7% . Sugar fell in price by 4.7%, while tea and cocoa rose by 1.9%.
Prices for mineral or spring water and bottled drinking water rose 4% in August on a year-over-year basis.
In August, the price of vodka rose by 8.5%, wine - by 1.9%, beer - by 2.7%. Tobacco products in August increased in price by 11.1% year-on-year.
Consumer prices in August 2023 were down 0.2% from August 2022. -0-
