Lake Sevan and Syunik among Armenian environment ministry’s priorities this year

Armenian Nature Protection Ministry will concentrate its attention on the problems of Lake Sevan and creation of bio environment in Syunik province, Aram Harutyunyan, environment minister, told journalists on Thursday after a regular Cabinet meeting.

YEREVAN, January 9. /ARKA/. Armenian Nature Protection Ministry will concentrate its attention on the problems of Lake Sevan and creation of bio environment in Syunik province, Aram Harutyunyan, environment minister, told journalists on Thursday after a regular Cabinet meeting. 

He said that the ministry will make every effort to increase fish population in the lake and to create infrastructures and cleaning facilities.

“Legislative changes are planned as well – they will allow expanding protected areas and facilitate the search of solutions to many problems,” he said.  

The minister stressed that more than 20 programs will be implemented. 

The government intends to allocate AMD 2 billion 223 million for solution of environmental problems in 2014. This amount is 28.6% larger than that of 2013. ($1 – AMD 405.95). -0-----
