Minister: 7.4 billion KWH electricity generated in Armenia in 2011

Armenian Energy and Natural Resource Minister Armen Movsisyan, speaking Thursday at a news conference, said that Armenian electricity-producing facilities generated 7.4 billion KWh power in 2011 – 14.5% year-on-year growth.
YEREVAN, December 23. /ARKA/. Armenian Energy and Natural Resource Minister Armen Movsisyan, speaking Thursday at a news conference, said that Armenian electricity-producing facilities generated 7.4 billion KWh power in 2011 – 14.5% year-on-year growth.
He also said that 5.8 billion KWh electric power was consumed in the country this year – 10% year-on-year growth.
Electricity consumption by the population grew 11.6%, by the state-owned organizations grew 12.6%, by industrial enterprises 4% and by small and medium businesses 20.3%, while consumption by irrigation infrastructure and the system supplying drinking water contracted by 26%.
“This shows that investments have lessened consumption of electric power,” Movsisyan said.-0---
