Minister: Armenian economy undergoing structural changes
YEREVAN, August 15. /ARKA/. The Armenian economy is undergoing structural transformations, Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan said.
"Our economy saw a vigorous growth in the first six months of this year, contributed largely by the processing industry, trade, services and imports,’ he said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.
According to him, this proves that the economic growth is driven not only by geopolitical reasons (particularly, by arrivals of tens of thousands of Russian citizens to Armenia after Russia launched ‘the special military operation in Ukraine), but also by structural changes.
As for imports, Kerobyan said that the share of imported mining products has dropped from 60% to 30% and "this is very good".
According to the National Statistical Committee, the country's economic activity grew by 11.8% in January-June 2022 compared to the same period in 2021․ The growth in June 2020 compared to June 2021 was 18.5%. --0--
