Pashinyan says the main task is to restore economic growth

YEREVAN, February 9. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Ministry of Economy on Tuesday to discuss its current and upcoming programs, the press service of the prime minister reported.

It said the focus of the discussion was on ways of restoring economic growth and further improvement of the business environment. A special attention was given to expanding the exports of Armenian products to the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, and the United States.

A reference was made to a decision approved by the Eurasian Economic Union that enables member states, including Armenian companies, to participate in public procurement in the Russian Federation and other member countries. This decision will come into force in June this year. Armenian companies will be able to participate in Russian government procurement in 10 areas, including light industry, construction, military industry, etc.

Pashinyan stressed the need to provide local companies with complete and detailed information on this matter, noting that this could open up a wide field of activity for enterprises with serious development prospects.

The ministry said also that Armenia’s trade missions abroad are currently being updated to increase the export of Armenian wines, alcoholic beverages, canned food and other food products. They are greatly facilitated by the GSP + system with the EU, and the GSP systems with the US, Canada and Switzerland.

The ministry said also that the Investment Support Center is currently discussing 60 specific investment projects worth $1.5 billion. -0-
