YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. Preparations for construction of a new high-voltage line between Armenia and Georgia was discussed Thursday at the electric energy system efficiency and reliability enhancement technical commission an expanded session presided by Gagik Martirosyan, the first advisor to the prime minister.
The technical task formed as a result of discussions with Fichtner consulting company chosen jointly with Germany’s KfW Bank that finances the program.
In accordance with the technical inquiry, the program will be divided into stages.
At the first stage, a 220-kilowatt substation is planned to be reconstructed and a new 400-kilowatt high-voltage air line is to be built up to the state border between Armenia and Georgia.
The next state implies construction of a 500-kilowatt substation and a transforming station.
Already operating substations will be used for enhancing the program’s effectiveness. Their reconstruction will require not so much expenses.
A solar power plant is planned to be constructed as well. As a result, the total cost of the program will reduce at least 30%.
It was reported earlier that the construction of a new Armenia-Georgia line would be launched in 2017.
At the initial stage, the exchange of electric energy between Armenia and Georgia will made up 350 megawatt, while later the volume will be increased to 750 megawatt. -0---
