Russia is the main trading partner and investor in Armenian economy - Lavrov
YEREVAN, May 21. /ARKA/. Russia is the main trading partner and investor in the Armenian economy and a reliable guarantor of the republic's energy and food security, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"These agreements remain in full force," he noted at an extended meeting in Yerevan with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
According to Lavrov, the Eurasian Economic Union is becoming increasingly effective and self-sufficient.
"It demonstrates stability and efficiency against the backdrop of turbulent events in the global market. It is also relevant to increase cooperation on the CIS platform," he said.
In the context of various integration structures, Lavrov noted that the Russian side is interested in Armenia actively engaging in promising processes that are unfolding within the SCO, as well as under the auspices of the BRICS association.
According to Armstat, in the first quarter of this year, the volume of trade turnover between Armenia and Russia amounted to $1.6 billion, with a decline of 63.8% compared to the first three months of last year. -0-
