Russian PM: Russian-Armenian trade in 4 months is over $890 million
YEREVAN, June 21. /ARKA/. Russia is Armenia's major foreign trade partner and the largest investor in its economy, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, the Armenian prime minister's press service reported.
He said the mutual trade in the first four months of 2022 surged by 30% to over $890 million.
‘I think there is room to grow! Russian investments in the Armenia's economy exceed $2 billion and there are opportunities for growth, and Russian investors will have an opportunity to expand their investments in Armenia," Mishustin said.
"We hope that the Armenian government will continue to create favorable conditions for Russian companies. We are interested in expanding bilateral cooperation, creating new products, promoting joint projects in various areas, first of all in industry, energy, transport and digitalization," Mishustin was quoted as saying.
He noted that these issues are in the focus of the Russian-Armenian intergovernmental commission.
‘A corresponding decision of the Russian government has removed all restrictions on the entry of Armenian citizens to Russia by land,’ he said.
"We expect that in the near future the flow of tourist visits will recover and even increase. In my opinion, this is very important for the population of Armenia and Russia," Mishustin said.
Mishustin and Pashinyan met on the sidelines of a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk, Belarus.
‘Russia and Armenia stand for strengthening of Eurasian integration on the basis of four freedoms: capital, labor, services and free circulation of goods. We will take joint steps to reduce the impact of sanctions, our decisions help to stabilize the economies of the Eurasian Economic Union," said Mishustin. -0-
