South Caucasus Railways transports over 2.7 million tons of cargo in ten months

The South Caucasus Railways (SCR), a Russian-owned company operating Armenia’s railroads, said it had transported about 2.730.000 tons of cargo in the first ten months of this year, a 5.1 percent drop from the year earlier.

YEREVAN, November 20. / ARKA /. The South Caucasus Railways (SCR), a Russian-owned company operating Armenia’s railroads, said it had transported about 2.730.000 tons of cargo in the first ten months of this year, a 5.1 percent drop from the year earlier. 

The company transported 390,400 tons of cargo outside Armenia and brought in 1,002,400 tons of cargo. Domestically it transported 1,337,200 tons of cargo.

The company said its CEO, Victor Rebets, instructed his subordinates to look into the situation and prepare measures to ensure growth in freight volumes. 

South Caucasus Railways is a 100% subsidiary of state-run Russian Railways that was awarded a concesional management of SCR. The 30 year contract was signed in 2008. It can be prolonged for another 10 years. -0-
