Armenia and Iran are implementing a series of joint energy projects, in the frames of which the construction project of gas pipeline has been already implemented. Negotiations are conducted on the construction of oil pipeline fr om Iran and oil processing plant in Armenia.
Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan said that the given step is a necessary condition prior to construction.
Earlier Armenian Energy and Nature resource Minister Armen Movsisyan announced that the Armenian side will invest 100 million dollars in the oil pipeline Iran-Armenia, which was planned start in 2011 and finish in 2014.
The oil pipeline will allow Armenia to transport oil products (petrol and diesel fuel) not only from oil processing plants of Iran, but also from the countries of Persian Bay to Iranian city Tebriz and then to Armenian city Yeraskh wh ere they will be stored in the specially built terminal. It will allow to buy them for the region of Persian Bay by stock exchange prices which are significantly lower European Mediterranean prices, as well as reduce transport expenses compared to the railway or any other option. --0--
