Hong Kong wine auction breaks world record
YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/.  Sotheby’s (BID) said a wine “superlot” of 114 bottles of Romanee-Conti from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti sold for a record HK$12.6 million ($1.6 million) on Saturday in Hong Kong, Bloomberg reported.

The collection, spanning 1992 to 2010 with six bottles of the pinot noir red from each vintage, was purchased by an Asian buyer who wasn’t identified in a Sotheby’s list of sale results. The price broke a previous auction record for a wine lot, set by Sotheby’s in 2006 when 50 cases of Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982 sold for $1.05 million in New York, according to a company statement.

The trophy wine sales kicked off a five-day auction marathon in Hong Kong in which Asian art, Chinese classical paintings and ceramics, watches, jewels and jadeite go under the hammer, estimated to earn more than HK$2.2 billion. –0--
