Armenia’s ministry of health records no health problem near chemical blast site in Vanadzor

State sanitary inspectorate of Armenian ministry of health did not find any cases of health problems in houses adjoining the territory of Prometey Kimprom chemical plant in Vanadzor as of January 21, 18:00, the press service of the inspectorate reported.

YEREVAN, January 22. /ARKA/. State sanitary inspectorate of Armenian ministry of health did not find any cases of health problems in houses adjoining the territory of Prometey Kimprom chemical plant in Vanadzor as of January 21, 18:00, the press service of the inspectorate reported.

The ammonium container explosion occurred in a production shop on January 21 in the morning killed 22-year-old operator David Asatryan. Another worker was injured.

Experts of the inspectorate visited the staff and the children in child-care facilities near the plant and found no health problems. 

Visits to out-patient clinics and medical emergency services are also being considered.

Air samples are taken in dwelling area near the plant for laboratory analysis. No excess of permissible limits is recorded in the areas adjoining the accident site.

Monitoring of health conditions of people living in the area is still under way.

Prosecution is brought on charges under Penal code article 231 (violation of safety rules in explosive facilities, which caused death or other severe consequences).

A forensic medical examination on the case is to be held. –0--
