French Hauts-de-Seine department ready to assist flood-hit Tavush region of Armenia

At a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, Chairman of the Council of the French Hauts-de-Seine department Georges Siffredi expressed words of support in connection with the situation caused by floods in Lori and Tavush marzes, adding that the French Hauts-de-Seine department, which has partnership relations with Tavush marz, is ready to provide the latter with the necessary support.

YEREVAN, 27 May. /ARKA/. At a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, Chairman of the Council of the French Hauts-de-Seine department Georges Siffredi expressed words of support in connection with the situation caused by floods in Lori and Tavush marzes, adding that the French Hauts-de-Seine department, which has partnership relations with Tavush marz, is ready to provide the latter with the necessary support.

He stressed the importance of developing cooperation with Tavush region in the fields of agriculture, agro-tourism, ecology and other spheres, the government press service reported.

Pashinyan thanked for the readiness to support the Tavush region and attached special importance to the partnership in the restoration of destroyed infrastructures.

An emergency situation has developed in Tavush and Lori due to the heavy rains of 25-26 May, as well as the overflow of the Debed, Aghstev and Tashir rivers.

According to preliminary data from the authorities, four people died in the disaster, while 429 people were rescued and evacuated. -0-
