YEREVAN, May 30. /ARKA/. Rehabilitation of the flood-hit regions of northern Armenia, conducted by the Rescue Service, will last for another week, said Kamo Tsutsulyan, head of the Rescue Service.
“The operational headquarters set up to handle the elimination of flood consequences will still work aa it is not possible to complete the restoration quickly, as a huge number of infrastructures have been damaged,” Tsutsulyan said at a press conference on Thursday.
Tsutsulyan said the government has declared Armenia's flood-affected Lori and Tavush provinces as a disaster zone in order to involve international partners in the reconstruction.
He also said that after the river level drops, cleaning of the riverbed and restoring the riverside dams will begin, as almost all of them have been destroyed.

As of May 30, the disaster resulted in 4 deaths, while 443 people were rescued and evacuated, according to the authorities.
