Speaker of the RA Parliament Tigran Torosyan handed in a second resignation to Vice-Speaker Hrair Karapetyan.
YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Speaker of the RA Parliament Tigran Torosyan handed in a second resignation to Vice-Speaker Hrair Karapetyan.
The public Relations Department, RA Parliament, reported that on September 19, Speaker Torosyan sent in his resignation and confirmed his secession from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
According to the Rules of the RA Parliament, the Speaker’s resignation is to be accepted after he hands in a second resignation.
Torosyan stated his intention to resign at his September 16 news conference, the reason being political disagreements.
The same day, the RPA Board nominated Hovik Abrahamyan, the former head of the RA presidential administration, to the post.
Vice-Speaker Hrair Karapetyan will act as Speaker until September 29, when the Parliament is expected to elect new Speaker. –0--
