The hidden purpose of Turkish foreign policy is to undermine the relations between Armenia and its vast Diaspora, said deputy dean of Oriental Studies Faculty of Yerevan State University, turkologist Ruben Melkonyan.
YEREVAN, 29 November. /ARKA/. The hidden purpose of Turkish foreign policy is to undermine the relations between Armenia and its vast Diaspora, said deputy dean of Oriental Studies Faculty of Yerevan State University, turkologist Ruben Melkonyan.
According to Melkonian, Turkey’s decision to remove Armenia from the list of countries which pose threat to its national interests, pursues in fact explicit and implicit objectives.
"The main goal of Turkey is to create information flow that has a specific purpose - to show the world that Turkey is committed to its declared foreign policy of zero problems with neighbors. The second hidden goal is to neutralize a unity of Armenia and Diaspora "- Melkonyan said on Monday.
Turkish National Security Council in late October approved a new national security strategy, removing Armenia and several other countries from the list of countries which pose threat to it.
In this regard, Melkonian stressed that Turkish foreign minister Ahmed Davutoglu instructed Turkish ambassador in different countries to use all available means to neutralize cooperation between Armenia and Diaspora.
"And I'm sure that soon there will be statements to claim it is Armenian Diaspora that poses threat to Turkish national interests,’ he added. -0-
