Armenia’s passport & visa department receives over 50 claims from election campaign offices, observers since Jan 10

The Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police Service has received 50 claims from election campaign offices, NGOs and observers, said Alvina Zakarian, passport department head. The claims mostly concerned inaccuracies in voting lists.
YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/. The Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police Service has received 50 claims from election campaign offices, NGOs and observers, said Alvina Zakarian, passport department head. The claims mostly concerned inaccuracies in voting lists. “The received applications and queries were replied according to schedule,” she said.

Most of the claims were made by the candidates Arthur Baghdasarian and Levon Ter-Petrosian, according to Zakarian.

The hot line of the Passport and Visa Department received 676 calls and messages concerning inaccuracies in voting lists. “We have also responded to media publications about inaccuracies in voting lists,” Zakarian said.

2 mln 311,665 people make Armenia’s electorate. The presidential election in Armenia is scheduled for February 19. –0--
