Air force pilots at Erbeuni airbase start drills

More than 100 air force pilots and service personnel from the Russia air base stationed at Erebui airport in Yerevan began military drills today with more than 30 units of specialized military and aviation hardware, the press service of the Southern Military District said today.

More than 100 air force pilots and service personnel from the Russia air base stationed at Erebui airport in Yerevan began military drills today with more than 30 units of specialized military and aviation hardware, the press service of the Southern Military District said today.
It said for three days MiG-29 jet fighters will practice covering ground troops from the air, as well as destruction of air targets, imitating bombers, cruise and ballistic missiles of imaginary enemy. The drills involve young pilots, the graduates of military schools in 2014.
The Southern Military District said also jet fighter pilots from Erebuni airbase have four shifts of daytime and nighttime flights each week.
"Joint exercises are a necessary component for practicing interaction between mechanized infantry units and airborne forces," the commander of the air base, Colonel Alexander Petrov, is quoted as saying in a statement.-0-
