Anticorruption program worth $750,000 approved in Armenia

Armenia’s anti-corruption council headed by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, at its first meeting held yesterday, approved a strategic program worth $750,000 to struggle against corruption, the press office of the government reported on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, July 28. /ARKA/. Armenia’s anti-corruption council headed by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, at its first meeting held yesterday, approved a strategic program worth $750,000 to struggle against corruption, the press office of the government reported on Wednesday.   

At the meeting, MP David Harutyunyan, who is the head of the government’s administration, presented the details of the cooperation agreement to be signed between the government and the USAID as part of this strategy. 

He said that the USAID has expressed readiness to assist the government in implementation of its anticorruption strategy.  

Armenian government will pay for up to 25% of the program. Financial assistance will be spent on creation of an expert committee, the launch of the anticorruption strategy and on elaboration of another strategy in public relation area, as Harutyunyan said. 

In his words, the program will make it possible to involve high-qualified international and local experts in risk assessment, analysis and removal processes. ---0-----
