Armenia and Iran stand ready to boost ties

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan had a meeting today with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, the press service of the Armenian government reported.
YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan had a meeting today with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, the press service of the Armenian government reported. It said Karapetyan thanked the president for the hospitality and conveyed the greetings of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
According to the prime minister, Armenia attaches great importance to the warm and friendly relations with neighboring Iran, based on centuries-old foundations and mutual interests. "I can say with pleasure that these relations are at a high level, and bilateral cooperation continues to develop in the sphere of mutual understanding," he was quoted as saying.
Rouhani, greeting Karapetyan's visit to Iran, expressed his conviction that it would contribute to the further deepening of the Armenian-Iranian friendly relations in various fields. The President of Iran stressed that he is ready to contribute to the initiatives of the governments of the two countries, as well as to the implementation of joint programs.
The two men were said to have attached importance to deepening and expanding cooperation in a number of areas, in particular in energy, agriculture, information technology, tourism sectors, the Meghri and Aras free trade zones, as well as in bilateral trade.
The head of the Armenian government underlined the high level of the Armenian-Iranian political dialogue. The sides touched upon the the Karabakh conflict and regional problems. Karapetyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates the balanced position of Iran on the Karabakh issue, which is one of the important guarantees for preserving peace and stability in the region.
The Iranian leader conveyed warm greetings to the Armenian President and the Armenian people and highly appreciated the role of the Armenian community in the development of Iran -0-
