YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan has commented on the Russian Duma’s statement on the centenary of the Armenian genocide and expressed gratitude for Russia’s consistent stance on one of the worst tragedies in the human history.

Back on May 24, 1915, Russia, together with France and Great Britain, made a statement condemning the Armenian massacres in Ottoman Empire and calling them “a crime against humanity”, Nalbandyan said, as cited the press office.

He said the Russian Duma made special statements in 1995 and 2005, calling the atrocities “genocide” and declaring April 24 a day of commemoration of victims.

Duma’s statement on the centenary of the Armenian genocide is an expression of solidarity with the Armenian people and indicates the importance of the genocide recognition and condemnation for the entire mankind, Nalbandyan said.

Denial policy further deepens the gap between Turkey and the international community, according to the Armenian foreign minister. –0--
