Armenia interested in intensification of negotiations between Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore - premier

Armenia is interested of intensification of negotiations between the Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore’s free trade zone, Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, said as he met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam in Davos, the press office of the Armenian government reported on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. Armenia is interested of intensification of negotiations between the Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore’s free trade zone, Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, said as he met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam in Davos, the press office of the Armenian government reported on Wednesday.  

“Such cooperation can promote growth in trade and investments as well as implementation of mutually beneficial programs,” he said.  

Karapetyan also stressed that Singapore’s development way is a good example for Armenia. He singled out a number of areas that could be interesting to Singaporean business people.

In particular, he pointed out wine industry, organic agriculture, education and information technology. 

Shanmugaratnam, on his side, said that Armenia can play an important part in relations between the region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. 

“Very important is that we have no problems in our relations and we are steadfast in our determination to deepen the bilateral relations,” he said.  

The parties also pointed out the necessity of removing double taxation between Armenia and Singapore. -0---
