Vardan Harutyunyan, head of Armenian State Revenue Committee, Masoud Karbasian, head of Iranian Customs Administration, signed a memorandum on Thursday in Yerevan to lay groundwork for their countries cooperation in customs administration, the press office of the Armenian State Revenue Committee reports.

The memorandum implies online exchange of information between border customs checkpoints in Meghri (Armenia) and Norduz (Iran).

The implementation of each point of the memorandum will make it possible to put the one-window principle into practice.

Border-crossing procedures will be simplified either for diplomats or for tourists.

Karbasian said that customs area directly impacts trade and economic relations between Armenia and Iran, and abolishment of visa regime will spur tourism and trade turnover and will simplify and speed up transit.

He also added that Armenia, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, can become a gate to the union market for Iran. --0---
