Armenia’s ex-ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatyan has been appointed as advisor to Armenia’s president on international cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the presidential press office reported. President Serzh Sargsyan signed the respective decree on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s ex-ambassador to Russia Armen Smbatyan has been appointed as advisor to Armenia’s president on international cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the presidential press office reported. President Serzh Sargsyan signed the respective decree on Wednesday.
Armen Smbatyan (born on November 17, 1954 in Yerevan), Armenian statesman and diplomat, graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatoire, piano and composition departments. Headed the Yerevan State Conservatoire in 1995-2002. Was minister of culture, youth affairs and sports in 1996-1998. Has been heading the Armenian Society of Cultural Ties and Cooperation with Foreign Countries since 1997. Was awarded Movses Khorenatsi medal in 2001. Was Armenia’s ambassador to Russia in 2002-2010 and executive director of CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation countries in 2010-2013. –0--
