YEREVAN, December 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Hnchakyan social democratic party welcomes the decision of Armenian authorities to join the Customs Union, chairman of the Armenian board of the party Narek Galstyan told reporters.

Yet, the party expressed its cautious optimism and expressed hopes cooperation with Europe will continue, Galstyan told a press conference Friday.

Galstyan said the decision was made bearing in mind Armenia’s security issues.

“Of course, we would like Armenia to be a member of the European Union, but today the Customs Union is the only was taking into account the threats Armenia faces in the region”, he said.

Hnchakyan social democratic party is one of the oldest Armenian parties. It was founded in 1887. Hnchakyan is an independent party cooperating with party members abroad, but is not represented in the National Assembly. –0--
