Armenia's deputy economy minister Garegin Melkonyan downplayed allegations that Armenia’s membership in the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union would hinder its effective cooperation with the European Union.
YEREVAN, October 7. / ARKA /. Armenia's deputy economy minister Garegin Melkonyan downplayed allegations that Armenia’s membership in the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union would hinder its effective cooperation with the European Union.
Garegin Melkonyan said that Yerevan and Brussels were working to specify the agenda of their further cooperation. He added that there were no problems to hinder it.
“We are going to clarify the areas where we will continue our joint work.”
The deputy minister said Armenia continues implementing various joint projects with the EU, in particular, a program of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, (OECD) on the Eurasian competitiveness in 2014.
"As you can see, these programs continue to be implemented effectively, and our membership in the Eurasian Economic Union will not become an obstacle to further development of relations with the European Union", he added.
Armenia is expected to sign an agreement on its accession to the Russia-led bloc on October 10 in Minsk, Belarus. -0-
