Armenia’s Nalbandyan discusses Customs Union membership with Belarusian foreign minister

Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan discussed issues related to Armenia’s membership in the Customs Union with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makey, the press office of Armenian foreign ministry reported.
YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan discussed issues related to Armenia’s membership in the Customs Union with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makey, the press office of Armenian foreign ministry reported.
Nalbandyan said Armenia-Belarus relations are advancing supported by frequent meetings of the countries’ leaders.
Makey, in his turn, thanked his counterpart for the invitation and said he is happy to once again visit Armenia for discussing further cooperation steps.
The sides touched upon the progress on implementing the agreements reached during Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Armenia in May.
The foreign ministers exchanged views on cooperation within Eastern partnership program and on preparations for the summit in Vilnius.
After the negotiations of Armenian and Russian presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin on September 3, a statement was made about Armenia’s intention to join the Russia-initiated customs union. Before, Armenia was expected to sign an association agreement with the EU. Yet, EU officials claim the two formats are incompatible.–0--
