Armenia’s parliament approves government re-structuring

17.11.2014, 14:27

YEREVAN, November 17. /ARKA/. Armenia’s parliament passed the amendments to the law about government structure on Monday.

The amendments provide for merger of the ministries of territorial administration and emergencies and for formation of a new ministry responsible for international economic integration and reforms.

Total of 70 MPs voted in favor and 6 against, with 31 abstained.

Re-organizing the government aims at improving efficiency of public management and requires no additional expenses, Armenia’s minister of justice Hovhannes Manukyan said earlier during the bill discussions. The functions of the new ministry will be approved within a week after the amendments are passed, he said. –0--
