Armenia’s parliament considers ratification of loan agreement with Russia
YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s National Assembly started discussing the ratification of Armenia-Russian intergovernmental agreement on an export loan for Armenia.

Last Friday Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan agreed with the Russian minister of transport and co-chair of Armenia-Russia intergovernmental commission Maxim Sokolov that a loan worth $200 million will be extended to Armenia for modern weaponry purchases.

The agreement envisages buying of Russian-made weaponry during 2015-2017, deputy minister of defense Ara Nazaryan said in the parliament. This aims at ensuring the balance of armaments in the region, he said.

The loan is provided for 13 years with a three-year grace period, at 3% per annum.

The special parliament session to ratify the agreement was initiated by Armenia’s government. –0--
