Armenia’s president accepts vice-premier’s resignation

The president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan accepted the resignation of the vice-premier and the minister of territorial administration Armen Gevorgyan on Friday, the presidential press office reported.
YEREVAN, October 17./ARKA/. The president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan accepted the resignation of the vice-premier and the minister of territorial administration Armen Gevorgyan on Friday, the presidential press office reported.
Armenia’s premier Hovik Abrahamyan informed about Gevorgyan’s resignation at the government meeting on Thursday. Gevorgyan took a job in the private sector, but intended to continue his cooperation with the government, he said.
Armen Gevorgyan was born in 1973 in Yerevan. Graduated from Orenburg State Pedagogical Institute and St-Petersburg Institute of Public Service. Obtained master’s degree in Twente (Netherlands) and completed a post-graduate course at the Russian State Pedagogical University after Hertsen (St-Petersburg).
Armen Gevorgyan was assistant to premier in 1997-1998 and first assistant to premier in 2000-2006. Gevorgyan headed the president’s staff in 2006-2008 and was secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council in 2007-2008. He was appointed as vice prime-minister in 2008.
Gevorgyan was awarded medals of 1st and 2nd class for public service and commemorative medals by the speaker and the premier. He is married and has two daughters and a son.–0--
