Armenia's representation to ECHR reports killing of Armenian soldier in Azerbaijani captivity

YEREVAN, September 19. /ARKA/. Hasmik Samvelyan, press secretary of Armenia's representation to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), reported the killing of an Armenian soldier who was in Azerbaijani captivity.
"David Gishyan was in fact killed in captivity. Today we informed the European Court that Azerbaijan has grossly violated Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. We also appealed under Article 3, which protects people from torture and degrading treatment. Azerbaijan has violated those articles," Samvelyan told Armenian Public TV.
According to her, the Armenian side demands that an urgent measure be taken against Azerbaijan.
"The European Court's deadline for Azerbaijan to provide information on the whereabouts of the prisoners and medical certificates, if any is September 22, but we now demand that an urgent measure be taken. The information will also be sent in the form of a letter to the UN International Criminal Court," Samvelyan said.
Earlier Samvelyan reported that more than 10 Armenian soldiers were captured as a result of Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia on September 13-14.
Based on the video footage of the captives, the ECHR sent a request to Azerbaijan for one prisoner of war identified as of September 13, and other unidentified captives seen in the video. The deadline is set for September 22. -0-
