Armenia seeks to cut its debt to Russia at the expense of funds paid for arms purchase
YEREVAN, November 24. /ARKA/. Armenian government is looking into ways to cut its debt to Russia at the expense of the funds paid earlier to Russia for the delivery of weapons, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday, answering citizens' questions in a live broadcast.
Pashinyan said earlier that Russia failed to deliver weapons to Armenia despite contracts signed with it after 2020. According to some mass media reports, the cost of those contracts are several hundred million US dollars.
Pashinyan did not specify today the exact amount in question, noting that there are problems with non-fulfillment of arms contracts.
"However, this is not the only option to solve the existing issues. There are several other options. We know that Russia itself needs arms. And we, given this context, are determined to resolve this issue in a working atmosphere. I hope the discussions will lead to concrete results," Pashinyan said. --0--
