YEREVAN, April 13. /ARKA/. Armenia continues to view the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in parliament today.

"Our views on the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group remain fully in force. We see the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. No one in the world has canceled the decision of the conference that established that format and it remains in force," he said.

The Minister noted with regret that for well-known reasons the contradictions between the Co-Chair countries –Russia, France and USA- are not favorable for the organization of discussions at the moment. He stressed that Armenia cannot allow any vacuum in this regard.

"The bilateral format (between Armenia and Azerbaijan) essentially does not exist. Bilateral talks did not take place, there was a conversation about the beginning of negotiations," he said.

Mirzoyan also commented on the April 11 phone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

"The phone conversation was held at the initiative of the Azerbaijani side. We reviewed what had been discussed over the past year and fixed by the leaders of the countries in Brussels on April 6, particularly, setting a commission on border delimitation and preparations for starting peace talks" he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Moscow on April 8 'that the United States and France in a Russophobe frenzy… have cancelled the co-chairing troika of the OSCE Minsk Group,’ saying that they will not be communicating with Russia in this format.”

He added: “If they are ready to sacrifice the interests -- in this case of the Armenian side -- of settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh and the South Caucasus as a whole, it’s their choice.” -0-
