YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. As a guarantor of the security of the people of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Armenia will not remain indifferent in the event of aggression against them, Armenia’s newly appointed secretary of the National Security Council Armen Gevorgyan said today when speaking at the opening of a regular session of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO member states.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh troops along the line of contact in early April this year Gevorgyan said those events took place in the Caucasus region of the CSTO’s collective security.
"Therefore, we proceed from the understanding that they are a cause of concern and worry to all my colleagues in the CSTO in the same way as we in Armenia can not remain indifferent to developments in Central Asia and other regions of CSTO shared responsibility," he said.
In this regard, Gevorgyan said that peoples in the CSTO member countries expect a higher degree of solidarity and unity in the promotion of collective goals and objectives, for which the CSTO was set up."
"The bottom line of these activities should be our collective and individual efforts to contain the aggressive attitudes and intentions of the countries bordering the CSTO member states", he explained. -0-
