YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not rule out the possibility of dropping lawsuits against Azerbaijan in international courts.

"Since there is no agreement yet, we are both making amendments. However, if we approach this issue from a principled perspective, and if we see that we are achieving real peace and reaching an agreement, I think that such a deal can be made," Pashinyan said in an interview with Armenian Public Television on Friday.

The deal, he said, is not to file lawsuits against each other for past events and to mutually waive any claims.

"Let’s hope that in the future there will be no reasons to file lawsuits," Pashinyan said.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is considering a lawsuit filed by Armenia against Azerbaijan on September 28, 2023, demanding the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination due to the long-standing state-sponsored propaganda of hatred and Armenophobia. Yerevan also expects Baku to refrain from taking punitive actions against the former leaders of Artsakh, who are currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan. Additionally, Armenia insists on a ban on the demolition or alteration of Armenian cultural heritage monuments in the region, including memorials to the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

The ECHR is considering four interstate complaints filed on behalf of Armenia against Azerbaijan, related to crimes committed during the 44-day war in Artsakh (September-November 2020); illegal trials of captured Armenians in Azerbaijan; armed attacks and the occupation of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia by Azerbaijani Armed Forces (May 2021 - November 2022); the blockade of the Lachin Corridor (December 2022 - September 2023); and violations of the rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. -0-
