Armenian Prime Minister on Armenian prisoners in Baku: Work is underway every day
YEREVAN, October 16. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to an inquiry during a press briefing concerning the status of Armenian prisoners detained in Azerbaijan.
"In relation to the detainees, we are engaged in daily efforts and striving to achieve tangible outcomes. My stance is that I will refrain from discussing this matter until we attain these outcomes," Pashinyan stated. He assured the public that he would provide updates should any results materialize.
Concerning Armenian prisoners in Baku
Azerbaijan has officially acknowledged that it is detaining only 33 Armenian prisoners of war and civilians; however, Armenian human rights advocates assert that there are an additional 80 Armenian detainees.
On January 17, the so-called trial of 15 Armenian prisoners of war commenced in Baku. This group includes former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan; former Bako Sahakyan, Arkady Ghukasyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan; former Parliament Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan; former Foreign Minister and former Assistant to President Davit Babayan; former Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan; and former Deputy Commander of the Defense Army Davit Manukyan.
On February 28, the Armenian Foreign Ministry released a statement voicing concern over reports regarding the "trials" of 23 Armenian prisoners, as well as information provided by their attorneys about the pressure they are facing, instances of torture, and the noticeable decline in their health.-0-
