Armenian authorities considering ways to recognize Artsakh’s independence – Pashinyan
YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. Due to the current military situation, the Armenian authorities are considering room for recognizing the independence of Nagorno Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday at a press conference with the Russian media,.
"Yes, our agenda includes the issue of recognizing the independence of Nagorno Karabakh. There is also the possibility of concluding a military and political alliance with Karabakh," he is quoted by TASS as saying.
Armenia's actions are aimed at establishing long-term stability in Nagorno-Karabakh, he added.
"We have a goal to establish long-term peace and stability in the region. We do not want this situation to repeat itself in two or three years (military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh). But Armenia will never act to the detriment of its national interests and interests Nagorno Karabakh," Pashinyan said.
In his words, Armenia will ensure its security with the participation of the CSTO or without the participation of this organization.
"The discussion on the participation of the CSTO is a political issue. We closely cooperate with our partners in the organization and inform them about the current situation. However, Armenia is ready to defend its security with or without the participation of the CSTO," he said.
Pashinyan also said that Armenia is ready to host the meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council on October 9 in Yerevan.
Situation in Artsakh
On September 27, at 07:10, Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line in Artsakh, but were thrown back in several directions. Intense fighting continues in the south, southeast and north of the front line. Turkey joined the aggression. Residential areas are being shelled as well.
The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in manpower (more than 790 people killed and around 1,900 wounded) and equipment, in particular, 72 UAVs, 4 helicopters, 137 tanks and other armored vehicles and 1 aircraft. According to the data of the defense ministry of Armenia and Artsakh, 80 Armenian servicemen were killed and around about 100-120 wounded on the Armenian side.
The Armenian side informed the international community, including the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, about the aggression by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, also about the shelling of peaceful settlements.
Martial law and general mobilization were declared in Artsakh and Armenia. -0---
