Armenian defense ministry calls on media and social networks users not to disseminate unverified reports
YEREVAN, April 1. / ARKA /.  In a statement released today Armenia’s ministry of defense has called on local mass media to refrain from publishing unverified, false information and slanderous reports disseminated by Azerbaijani sources.

"It is amusing when Azerbaijani propaganda tricks about  the  situation in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and the line of contact, when absolute lies and disinformation imposed by official Baku on the own people and presented to the international community are being spread also by some media and  social networks users in Armenia. We urge these people to refrain from publishing unverified and false information,' the statement says.

The statement stresses that Armenia's ministry of defense pursues an open, transparent and objective information policy, reporting to the public not only on all the achievements of the Armenian armed forces but also on shortcomings and challenges.

"The Armenian defense ministry once again states that increased tension on the contact line is the result of the adventurous, militarily groundless policy of Azerbaijan motivated by revenge, which leads to large number of casualties among Azerbaijani soldiers," says the statement.

The defense ministry says the Armenian side strictly observes the ceasefire and resorts to proportionate retaliation only in cases of targeted violations by the enemy. -- 0--
