Armenian foreign ministry: Azerbaijan to bear full responsibility for war crime against Artsakh

The deliberate targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of Artsakh by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan is a gross violation of the international humanitarian law, and the latter will bear full responsibility for this war crime, said Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian foreign ministry.

YEREVAN, October 4. /ARKA/. The deliberate targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of Artsakh by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan is a gross violation of the international humanitarian law, and the latter will bear full responsibility for this war crime, said Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian foreign ministry.
“Azerbaijan, together with Turkey, and with massive involvement of foreign mercenaries transferred from the Middle East, continues large-scale military hostilities against the Republic of Artsakh. Cities of Stepanakert and Martakert are attacked with the use of long-range missiles and involvement of the air force,” she wrote on her Faceboook page.

On September 27, at 07:10, Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line in Artsakh, but were thrown back in several directions. Intense fighting continues in the south, southeast and north of the front line. Turkey joined the aggression. Residential areas are being shelled as well.
The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in manpower (more than 2,700 people killed and around 3,400 wounded) and equipment, in particular, 220 UAVs, 3 units of TOS – 1A, 4 Smerch MLRS, more than 350 tanks and other armored vehicles, 14 helicopters and 14 aircraft. According to the data of the defense ministry of Armenia and Artsakh, more than 200 Armenian servicemen were killed and hundreds wounded on the Armenian side. Also 12 civilians were killed and 64 wounded on the Armenian side.
Armenia informed the international community, including the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, about the aggression by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, also about the shelling of peaceful settlements.
Martial law and general mobilization were declared in Artsakh and Armenia. -0---
