Armenian government welcomes opposition lawmaker’s bill on border municipalities

The Armenian government has welcomed today a bill designed by Nikol Pashinyan, a parliament member from the opposition Armenian National Congress on borderline municipalities, describing it as "the right initiative."
YEREVAN, September 18. / ARKA /. The Armenian government has welcomed today a bill designed by Nikol Pashinyan, a parliament member from the opposition Armenian National Congress on borderline municipalities, describing it as "the right initiative."
The government said also that similar initiatives were made by other members of parliament, and the government itself.
"This in view, the government recommends that Pashinyan’s bill and other ones be discussed in one package," it said.
Nikol Pashinyan’s bill says that all municipalities where homes or office buildings are located at a distance of 3 km from the border with Azerbaijan should be regarded as borderline.
It says also that residents of such municipalities should enjoy a 50% discount on gas, electricity, drinking and irrigation water prices, as well as be completely exempt from land and property taxes.
It says also that residents of these communities affected by the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, or were hit by a mine, should be eligible to free medical assistance. -0-
