YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Armenian Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan, speaking today at a discussion held by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day, said corruption is one of the obstacles hobbling the country’s development.
Noting that corruption is a malignant tumor to every country, he said there is no universal prescription able to remedy the situation and added that even developed countries sometimes face corruption risks.
In his words, the Armenian government makes every effort to put things right and leave no room in the law for corruption risks.
Tovmasyan said these efforts have already started producing some results.
Stressing the importance of the law, he said that citizens’ mentality gives corruption favorable environment for flourishing.
“We must change our citizens’ mentality! Corruption today is means for getting profits illegally for some people and a quick and easy way to solve problems for other people,” the justice minister said. “Everybody must know that he harms his country when offering bribes!” .----0----
