Armenia’s minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan is leaving today for Giumry where a six people family was shot on Monday, the press secretary of the ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote on his facebook page.

YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan is leaving today for Giumry where a six people family was shot on Monday, the press secretary of the ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote on his facebook page. 

 The police reported six members of the family, Serezha Avetisyan (born in 1961), Hasmik Avetisyan (born 1959), Aida Avetisyan (1979), Armen Avetisyan (1981), Araksia Poghosyan (1990) and two-year old Hasmik Avetisyan were fatally shot in Giumry on Monday. 

According to the preliminary information, conscript Valery Permyakov is the suspect. 

The minister is meeting today with the members of the special investigative commission from Moscow. 

Earlier, the Russian ministry of defense said a special commission was sent to the Russian military base in Armenia to look into the fatal shooting case in Giumry. The commission is headed by deputy minister army general Arkady Bakhin. 

The press office of the Russian ministry of defense said the minister of defense Sergey Shoygu offered his condolences to the relatives of the killed. Shoygu stressed nothing can justify such violence against innocent civilians. The Russian ministry promised to provide support to the relatives of the killed family. 

The guilty will be held strictly liable after the commission completes its investigation, says the report. –0—
