Armenian ministry of territorial administration and emergency situations split into two separate agencies

An extraordinary session of the Armenian parliament has okayed today the splitting of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations into two separate agencies- the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
YEREVAN, February 19. /ARKA/. An extraordinary session of the Armenian parliament has okayed today the splitting of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations into two separate agencies- the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Justice minister Arpine Hovhannisyan said the change was caused by political necessity, stemming from a political cooperation. She added that the division of the ministry will not require major additional costs.
A corresponding bill was backed in the second and final reading by the governing Republican Party of Armenia and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/ Dashnaktsutyun (ARF), which have formed a new coalition government. One of the new ministries will be given to ARF.
Incidentally, the two ministries were merged into a single structure in late 2014. It was headed by then Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan.
The ARF is said to get three ministerial portfolios and two gubernatorial posts.-0-
