YEREVAN, December 8. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations approved today in the second reading a set of legislative changes that entitle the country’s Prime Minister to appoint military and trade attaches to serve at Armenian embassies abroad if necessary.

The attachés may have deputies and assistants. The bill originally suggested that the legislative changes should take effect 10 days after being signed into law by the president, but it has been amended to take effect immediately after signing.

In addition, the personnel reserve will include persons who won competitions for vacant positions but were not appointed. Previously, Armenia did not appoint military or trade attaches. -0-
