Armenian Police chief, Vladimir Gasparyan, vowed today to respond adequately to any attempt of exerting pressure on the police.
YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Armenian Police chief, Vladimir Gasparyan, vowed today to respond adequately to any attempt of exerting pressure on the police.
"I will neither tolerate a police officer behaving improperly when communicating with citizens. This is the principle that I never betray," he said to journalists after a government meeting.
Reports in Armenian media said earlier this month a group of people in Artik town in northwestern region of Shirak kidnapped and beat up a police officer. In response the officer fired his gun.
"Any attack on a police officer no matter who it comes from will be punished most severely. This concerns me personally, because they are my subordinates and colleagues, and it does not mean that I can put anything above the law," Gasparyan said. -0-
