YEREVAN, December 1. /ARKA/. Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, proposed Thursday to halve the number of offices on implementation of programs and cut spending on their maintenance by one third.
“Only five offices of 11 should remain,” he said. He gave three days to the responsible officials for submission of proposals for the second stage of optimization.
Karapetyan said five of such offices had already been dismissed. Now 17 organizations implement projects by using financial resources coming from abroad – 11 of them are offices.
He instructed Vache Gabrielyan, vice premier and minister of international economic integration and reforms, to negotiate with foreign donors to cut the number of such offices.
Programs paid from foreign loans and grants are mostly implemented in Armenia by special offices affiliated to ministries, not directly ministries and agencies. --0---
