Armenian President condoles over earthquake in China

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan addressed today a letter of condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on a devastating earthquake in Gansu province which caused numerous deaths, the president’s press office reported to ARKA.
YEREVAN, July 23./ARKA/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan addressed today a letter of condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on a devastating earthquake in Gansu province which caused numerous deaths, the president’s press office reported to ARKA.
“I am confident that measures taken by the Chinese Government will allow to quickly overcome the consequences of this calamity. Sharing your and the friendly Chinese people’s grief, I wish the families of the victims and the people of China tenacity and resolve, and I wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” the letter of the President of Armenia states.
China dispatched thousands of police, soldiers and government officials to search for survivors of an earthquake that struck the northwestern province of Gansu yesterday as the death toll rose to 94, Bloomberg reported.
The 5.9-magnitude quake struck at 7:45 a.m. local time yesterday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The official Xinhua News Agency said the temblor hit near the city of Dingxi and measured it at magnitude 6.6, citing the China Earthquake Networks Center.—0-
