Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan offered condolences on death of well-known statesman Vladimir Movsisyan.
YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan offered condolences on death of well-known statesman Vladimir Movsisyan.
He was an experienced and skilled statesman and politician and his long-years work had the sole aim of developing the homeland, Sargsyan said in his message.
Movsisyan was always loyal to the principle of serving the nation whatever high post he held, the president said. He was well aware of all problems at any of Armenia’s towns and villages and always tried to find the best solutions to relieve problems of ordinary people, according to the message. That is why he was loved and respected everywhere in the country, the president said.
Vladimir Movsisyan was born in 1933 in Shenavan village, Lori of Armenia. He graduated from Yerevan State Veterinary Institute in 1958 and finished the Communist Party higher school in 1969.
Movsisyan was the first secretary of Armenia’s Communist Party Central Committee in 1990-1991 and a member of the Supreme Council of Armenian Soviet Republic till 1991. He headed the migration and refugee department in 1991-1996 and was minister of agriculture in 1996-1999.
In the last years of his life Vladimir Movsisyan headed the presidential commission for Sevan lake problems. –0--
